Ensayo: Chapters 8 and 9 (Conclusion)

Chapter 8

The nuclear powered craft traveled at superluminal velocities and as such time was immensely slowed down in the reference frame of the traveler, but for the people of their home planet time was not slowed down. Thus if you traveled 3 thousand light years to another planet very little time went by for you but for the people on their home planet nearly 3000 years went by. They addressed this problem with what they called a time-space compensator: for every unit of space that was traveled and time slowed down a machine updated their biological reference frame to the same time that it actually was on their home planet.

But, what the committee he was on was trying to develop  an engine that would open-up space and allow them to put their ship in the fourth dimension so they could by-pass time completely. This would enable practical exploration of the Universe from galaxy to galaxy. Hypothetically they could go to the nearest galaxy to them with their present technology, which was a mere 200,000 light years from theirs, but to practically explore the billions of galaxies they had catalogued from astronomical observations with telescopes, they would have to travel millions if not billions of light years to reach the majority of them.

However, they could send messages through hyperspace in a short time photonically by encoding the messages in photons the massless particles that make up light. Opening up space to photons was easily done but for a starship, quite another matter.

Larry was at his office when he received a call from Dr. Budaresk. He pressed the button on his desktop communicator that read hyperlink, said hello, and waited for his message to reach Dr. Budaresk some 500 light years away, which was about a 2 second delay, and Dr. Budaresk came on “Larry, how are you, I trust your trip home went well?”

Celeste is much like our planet Ensayo, we embrace a similar philosophy but reversed in approach. It seems to me any time you have a scenario like this there exists a very lucrative prospect. This because any time you have two oppositely charged states, one wants to flow to the other, and a current can be established. If we assign our state plus and their state minus, then by connecting one to the other we establish a flow. How do you connect one to the other? That is where you - and your planet, Kalest — come in.

“We on Ensayo go into a deep state by using breathing and meditation techniques, and they on Celeste induce a deep state by way of ingesting hallucinatory plants native to their planet, used since ancient times reaching back some 500,000 thousand years. If through Kalest, Celeste can collaborate with Ensayo, we can produce through connecting our reversed mental states a flow of something very powerful. What that might be I am not sure.”

Larry liked it “Yes, perhaps our search for a flow of tachyons.”

Budaresk: “Precisely, Larry.”Chapter 9

Meanwhile on Ensayo cargo transportation vehicles were parked outside the Institute For Spiritual Studies. Men were unloading many boxes into the residences and men and women with soft, cream, thin leather skins as clothes and bracelets on their hands and feathers in their hair were filing into the building.

Dr. Budaresk was in the laboratory to  one side of the psychtron which was at the center of the room. He was putting down ornate loomed carpets, and and a deep, dark brown wood chair at it center. The men and women  wearing the leather skins with woven colorful bracelets on their wrists and feathers in their hair were filing in to the other side of the room each with a box in their hand. They put down woven carpets as well, with straight-line geometric patterns woven into them.

Larry and Helda came in and Larry sat in the chair at the center of the psychtron, while Helda took a seat in front of all of them.

Dr. Budaresk sat in his chair and meditated, and the men and women with the leather skins were ingesting plants.

Dr. Budaresk began to sing, his eyes closed, his voice smooth and magical. He sang:

Ans sesk nedl te lo loshu

The men and women in skins came back with:

Ixtl Lan Lorsk Lactl Del

Call and answer went on for some time. Larry at the seat of the psychtron listened with eyes closed to this amazing experiment in integration between musical traditions and the psychtron tuned in to his thoughts carried them through the seven parallel Universes. Then…A glowing image of a man in a robe appeared in front of them. The musical experiment stopped and he spoke:

“Good job all, you have summoned me from outside the Universe. My name is Ethereal One.”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a device from his robe and said:

I think this is what you wanted: A tardyon network of circuits with a battery that holds negative tachyons at one connector and positive tachyons at a positive connector. Back-engineer it and I think you will make a computer that can think for you, and develop that intergalactic starship.

He faded out and disappeared.
