Celeste Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Larry sat at the hotel kitchen table deep in thought, Helda came in and joined him at the table.

“Larry” she said, “I have been up all night researching Celeste’s History. Prominent is its significance in religion on the galactic political platform. Apparently, the Unified Worlds of Galactic Religion has been trying to get this planet to go on board with their belief in a Universal Galactic Mother. But Celeste insists their mother, Celeste, for whom the planet is named, is also the unifying factor for the Galaxy. She is part of a paradigm that the Unified Worlds of Religion cannot incorporate into their scheme. I see this as because to put it plainly, she is too easy going, like their planet, being a tropical paradise with little technological industry, its economy based on tourism.”

Larry, thought about it a minute, then said “Well if there is a problem, which we have been told there is, and we are supposed to have the answers, then the problem must be in what the problems are on our planet today. Think, what might that be? Kind of easy to answer, we understand that about 1/3 of the stars in our Galaxy are habitable, and our planet is running out of resources. We know the only solutions are one, to develop an engine beyond our current method of space travel so we can go between the worlds much quicker and with much less cost and two to learn how to reform a dead planet into a live one. We need in other words, to develop an engine that can open-up space and give access to the dimension of time, so we can traverse any distance instantaneously in the case of problem one. And we know that in order to do this, we need to solve equations at high speeds that have billions of factors that need to be processed. We know to do this, we need a vast number of people who can work on a vast number of highly complex problems in computer science. We know that in order for their brains to master such subjects that they would have to lose so much individuality and character, that they would cease to exist. And not enough people are willing to do that. Look at it this way,…”

He wrote on a piece of paper:

Individuality + progress = potential

“If potential is what was given to us, resources such as naturally occurring elements that can be used to make technologies, soils that can produce a set amount of harvests so we have food, and so on…Let us say it is 10. Then,…

Individuality+progress=10

“Now let us say we progress to 100% success. Let us say that is 10. Then we have…

Individuality+10=10

“Thus for the equation to hold we have individuality of people in our society is zero. We cease to exist. We are successful, but we are all robots.”

Helda said “I understand, but perhaps this is what we are doing on Celeste. If Celeste tells us anything it is that we don’t have to be technological to succeed, we must cultivate our spirit, and this will set us free.”

Larry answered “Well then all we have to do is have all the galaxy agree on something, which shouldn’t be hard to do. Think of why we came here to Celeste in the first place; because we read about a discovery in the paper which said that a plant on our planet can interbreed with a plant here. In other words, the emergence of life is part of a single process, thus life is the same through out the Universe. Sure we all look different  from planet to planet. People from the Kalgar star system have pronounced features like are tall, prominent facial features, like a pronounced nose, dark hair, are tall, whereas from our planet we are average in height, have sandy blonde hair, smaller noses, less full lips, but all intelligent life in our galaxy walks upright, has five-fold symmetry, that is two arms, two legs and a head, an opposable thumb for doing things that require dexterity, a nose for taking in air, two eyes for binocular vision an so forth. Life is subtle variations on a theme. Consider our own planet, Kremish. Our savior was anointed with the very plant that scientists have found can interbreed with a plant here that anointed their savior, Relgesh.
